Meet Susie McMahon Your Travel Expert:
Some call it wanderlust; others a yearning. It’s that feeling deep inside when a destination stirs your soul. When you know you just have to go there and soak in everything it has to offer. For me, that’s what authentic travel is all about. And it’s my guiding philosophy when working with my clients.
Growing up in the city of Atlanta, my family would take car trips to visit my grandparents who lived along the South Carolina coast. The Lowcountry region just captured my senses — from its long and lovely marshes; warm sandy beaches; refreshing ocean waters; fragrant tropical foliage; and most of all, brilliantly colored sunsets that rival just about any I’ve seen. I truly was fortunate to spend so much of my youth taking in everything the Lowcountry had to offer.
Eventually, life took me elsewhere as I graduated from the University of Georgia and embarked on a career in the hospitality and travel industry. The travel bug had already bitten me early on, so it didn’t take long before my sense of adventure and exploration took me across the United States and abroad, traveling to many countries including Canada, Belize, Costa Rica, Bahamas, Eleuthera, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and the British Virgin Islands.
Over the next two decades, I cultivated my personal and professional knowledge working in the luxury hotel management, hospitality, and travel industries. This included employment with the Nestle company Stouffer hotel chain (now Renaissance Hotels); American Express Business Travel focused on both domestic and international business accounts; and United Airlines where I worked as an international, domestic, and premier desk agent.
I realize now that every aspect of my life and work journey has led me to where I am now — back in my beloved Lowcountry as the creator, owner, and operator of Luxe Lowcountry Travel. Most importantly, I know these experiences have provided me with the expertise to create customized, meaningful, and immersive travel experiences for my clients.
I love to share my love for the Lowcountry with others. If you’re seeking an active vacation spent boating, exploring nature, or touring historic towns or just looking for a relaxing getaway with friends enjoying our beautiful beaches and cocktails and dinner at sunset, my job is to create an unforgettable experience for you.
Beyond the Lowcountry, I also know the “ins and outs” of the High Country having raised three active sons in Colorado for many years. So, if hiking, biking, skiing, or visiting a Dude Ranch sounds like fun, I can make that happen, too! In fact, every travel experience I arrange, whether domestic or international, starts with you. I’ll serve as your advisor, make recommendations, and take care of the time-consuming details.
