One of the many great things about a vacation is relaxing, kicking back and spending time with a good book. Especially a book that is so beautifully written, you can easily get lost in the story, Scenes and settings. The Lowcountry is a place that inspires such vivid imagery and spirtied storytelling, and there are many wonderful books about this area written by acclaimed authors.

Join me on our literary tour of the Lowcountry. We’ll visit locations from “Beach Music” by Pat Conroy and “Tell Me a Story” by Cassandra King Conroy. We have a roster of authors and artisans that have been featured in the Susie L McMahon Virtual Bookclub. We will have a meet and greet reception with authors, aspiring writers and artisans. Each featured author will host unqiue conversations, activities and workshops for getaway guests. You will have the opportunity to relax on the beautiful beaches of Fripp Island, SC and enjoy shopping and restaurants. Beaches and Books …..one of my favorite combinations.
Reserve your spot on the getaway by paying a $300.00 deposit and we will ship a complimentary copy of “Beach Music” by Pat Conroy, to you as a gift from Luxe Lowcountry Travel. In December of 2024 and January of 2025 we will read Beach Music as a virtual bookclub. In February 2025, the Pat Conroy Literary Center, executive director, Jonathan Haupt, will discuss the themes of Beach Music during a Live Virtual Meeting. In march, we will meet for this incredible travel experience!

The deposit/professional planning fee is non-refundable, unless you find a replacement for your space on the getaway. Full payment for the meals and activities is required 90 days prior to the getaway.
One night deposit will be processed on Getaway Guest Credit Card- payable direct to the Cuthbert House Inn. Final Inn bill will be paid to Inn directly. Guests staying at other Inn’s will pay the Inn directly for their accommodations.
Fripp Island, Accommodation Invoices will be created individually by Luxe Lowcountry Travel
Day One- Arrive in the Lowcountry
- Travel Day. Book transportation to Savannah/ Hilton Head International Airport. Please arrive by 4:00pm at the latest to be able to share ground transportation to Beaufort, SC. Private ground transfer can be arranged if airline arrival is before or after 2pm shared shuttle to Beaufort, SC
- Check – in at Your Inn
- Join your guide, Susie and other group members for a Welcome Champagne/Prosecco or Wine Reception with featured authors. Appetizers will be served by Catering By Debbi Covington

Day Two- Beaufort, South Carolina
- Sleep in a bit and then enjoy a traditional southern breakfast at your Inn.
