Travel comes to an abrupt halt during COVID-19. Recurring headlines no one in the tourism industry wants to read, hear, or speak out loud.
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the world went into lockdown.

A travel concierge specializing in authentic, upscale, experiential travel through Luxe Lowcountry Travel and Luxurious Journeys, Susie was interviewed by Karen L. Snyder, writer for Beaufort Lifestyle magazine [April 2021].
Karen posed the question: With many travel restrictions in place during the pandemic, how did you spend your personal/professional time?
“During the pandemic lockdown, I spent a lot of time deciding on the direction of my life and business. Out of the blue, I won a free author talk with Rebecca Dwight Bruff, author of Trouble the Water. Since we could not meet in person, I started a virtual book club. My book club is unique because we feature a book and then the following month meet the author via Facebook Live. The current featured author surprises us by choosing and introducing us to the next month’s feature author, and so on.”
The Susie L. McMahon Virtual Book Club was born in April 2020 and currently boasts over 300 members.
